About the Author

My name is Sean Blanda and I’m the Associate Web Editor of the Philadelphia City Paper.

I was born Sept. 19, 1986 and raised in various Southern New Jersey towns with a brief stint in Wilmington, De. I attended Penns Grove High School (where some famous guy also graduated from).

I currently reside in Mantua, a neighborhood in Philadelphia.  I engulf any magazine, newspapers, and Web site I can get my hands on, and I am trying to help pay those pesky college bills through freelancing both in print and on the Web. I also enjoy losing my money playing Texas Hold’em, having terrible spelling, and hanging out with the best friends a guy can ask for. I cheer for all of the Philadelphia sports teams and can’t cook worth a damn.

I am also trying to find my way in a rapidly changing journalism landscape. Therefore I try to learn all of the new technology (HTML, CSS, Flash, Audio/Video editing) as possible while still knowing how to put the pen to the paper.

About the Site

This site serves as a way to chronicle my journey though the ever changing landscape. I try to offer a mix of what its like to be a young journalist, my theories on media, and am just looking to offer something to the media landscape other than panic and negativity. Basically, I would just like to see media stay informative and as an aid to democratic process.

The blog is taking a weird sort of hiatus from the typical posting topics as I prepare for a few months of traveling.

This site also serves as a way for me to attract freelance work and show off my entire portfolio.
